Built to be usable if reading is hard.
A lot of the people who need this information are older, tired, worried, or reading in their second language. That is the normal case here, not an edge case, so the site is built for it.
What is actually done
The site targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Every page is checked automatically at five screen widths for color contrast, heading order, keyboard access and tap-target size, and no page ships with a finding open.
- Text contrast meets AA, including over the colored panels, which are checked against the colors they actually paint rather than assumed
- Everything works by keyboard, with a visible focus ring and a skip link as the first stop
- Collapsible sections announce whether they are open, and their content stays readable to screen readers and search engines even while collapsed
- Every control clears the 44 pixel touch minimum
- Photographs carry descriptions, and no meaning is carried by color alone
- Animation is minimal and respects a reduced-motion setting
- The whole site is in English and Spanish, not machine-translated
Where it is likely to fall short
Automated checking catches a lot and misses things a person would notice. The enrollment sites linked from here are run by carriers and by the states, and their accessibility is theirs, not ours. If something on this site is hard to use, that is worth telling us — it is the fastest way it gets fixed.
If any of this gets in your way
You never have to use this website to get help. Everything on it can be done by phone, by text, by email, or in Spanish, and information can be sent to you in whatever format works. Email neil@labordeinsurance.com or call (860) 200-2272 and say what would make it easier.
